Ripe for the picking –
Wunderlist for Blackberry now available

Posted on January 24th 2012 by Matthew Bostock - 83 Comments

Another day, another Wunderlist-supported device! It’s no secret that we’re on a mission to put our adored task manager in everyone’s hands, regardless of what device you’re using. Today we’re thrilled to announce Wunderlist for Blackberry, something that’s long been requested by some of you.

This release follows support for Linux, and crowns Wunderlist for Blackberry the 9th member of the family. In anyone’s eyes that’s one helluva big family, and we’re getting closer to our goal of supporting every major device and OS out there. So, what’s the story?

Planting the seed

As hinted by our blog post title, and following on from our unicorn story here, Wunderlist for Blackberry was hand picked from the forest of productivity – amongst the prioritize and due date trees. Ok it wasn’t, but I’m sure our developers imagine this stuff on their quest for code.

Blackberry was an obvious choice for us. Similar to our Linux release, we were astonished that some of you had tried formulating your own Wunderlist for Blackberry version. After making it official and transferring everything you know and love about Wunderlist over to the device, we were ready to let some of you have a taste. We handed out some special beta invites a little over 3 weeks ago, and we were very pleased with the feedback.

“I tested the app on my BB Torch and I can say it works really well”

Jan – Beta tester

“I am loving the new blackberry app!”

Jamie – Beta tester

“I’m happy I can use Wunderlist on my blackberry now! Great Job!”

Eddie – Beta tester

The specifics

You’ll be pleased to know that Wunderlist runs on Blackberry devices sporting OS 5 or higher. If you’re using a Bold or Curve, you’ll need an SD card equipped. It supports touch and non-touch devices, so we’ve got you covered whether you’re into tapping or clicking. To grab your copy now, load up Blackberry App World on your Blackberry device and search for ‘Wunderlist’. Alternatively, you can use this link. Simple!

We hope you enjoy the new release. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at support@wunderlist.com. We’d really love your feedback, so get busy and leave some comments! Love, Matthew.

Edit:
Some of you may be experiencing log in problems when using 3G. For now, stick with WIFI if you can. We’re working on the issue :)

Thats it. Keep on coming out with apps for other platforms while everyone else is waiting for Wunderkit. You have a crack staff of marketing experts working there.

    Steve says

Please I’m begging you. Add repeating tasks & sub lists. What good is your program if it’s available on many platforms but is unusable because it’s lacking basic features your competitors have already have had for a long time.

Hi Chris, we’ve been working on this alongside Wunderkit for those who really needed Wunderlist on their Blackberry devices. There’s a lot of people inside Wunderkit already, and as long as you’re on the waiting list you’ll get in before early February, when the beta will be opened to the public. Thanks!

Sorry, but can’t let this one go by untouched……. Given what RIM has been doing, and the fact that they are losing customers by the thousands every week, this does feel like a waste of resources. Wunderkit has been teased and promised for months, but Blackberry is a higher priority??? Gotta wunder what’s going on there.

I was one of the people who wanted the Blackberry version. I got an iPhone 4s though and have your product on my iPad, iPhone, and Mac. My wife is still a Blackberry user so I’m sure she will be happy. It’s a refreshing thing to see a company listening to their users. It’s rare. Can’t wait for Wunderkit. Keep up the great work!

I signed up for Wunderlist to share “to do” lists. In less than 12 hours of subscribing, I have received FOUR emails, even after picking the option to not receive them at the start, and unsubscribing since! I am completely unenchanted. No matter how cool your software is, it isn’t worth the email spamming. You’re blowing it, folks!

    Beni says

At last! I was waiting for that!! Even if people think RIM is obsolete, it’s still the best messaging platform. That’s why I’m so glad you offer Wunderlist for Blackberry :)

I’m using Android, iOS and Blackberry in parallel… and Wunderlist works fine on all!

    (unexpected error occurred)

I use a BB Torch 9800, OS 6.0 Bundle 2534. I have seen on the Wunderlist website that there is another user having the same issue.

    Any suggestion?

    James says

Great to see this app on BlackBerry!

    Some small feedback:

    1) There’s some UI lag doing most things (adding items, moving between lists ect). Makes me think you’re doing some network stuff on the event thread when it should be done in a separate thread.

    2) It would be great to see keyboard shortcuts! (t and b to move to the top and bottom of a list, spacebar to mark the selected item done, ect). This would make it feel more… BlackBerry-ish.

    Thanks!!

    Eric says

@James: Thanks a lot for your suggestions. We’ll maybe implement these things in the coming updates.

    Hey guys!

I’m going to search for it as fast as I can! I hope it will be in my AppWorld… I’ve been in need of it since I got an iPad2 and wanted to get synced my lists between them! (Yes, I’m so rare to have a BlackBerry and an iPad… And what’s up? :-/)

Good work and a big deal, folks!

    Hi guys,

you mentioned the Linux support for Wunderlist … did I missed something? After fiddling around with your support for over a week the Linux support vanished from your web site. Is there now a version again available? Would be an interesting option ;=).

    Greetings from Cologne, Germany,

@Stefan: All the Linux links are still there (www.6wunderkinder.com/wunderlist/).

    Suhail says

Hi, First of all, I love this app. I have this on my iPod touch and it works flawlessly. So I got it on the blackberry and when setting reminders, all it does is flash the LED until I go to the messages or the actual app to turn it off. No textbox like the iPod touch whatsoever. Anyone tell me how I can fix this? I have OS6 BB9700..

    Thanks

    Ole says

I have the same problem connectivity issue as mentioned above, even if I’m in Denmark. The reason could be that my company is routing all internet traffic through T-System’s data centre in Frankfurt.

If I connect through my private WIFI connection, it’s working perfectly.

    Keep up the good work!

    Bob says

You folks have a great team and generally good ideas.
Now if everyone can work together to help prioritize the most
    important things first….
In that (constructive) spirit, a lot of us are asking…
How can you make the move to Blackberry, when you’re leaving
other users on your other platforms waiting for enhanced product
    features and Wunderkit?
In the US as well as many other countries, the BB platform is dying
or at the very least, never again likely to be one of the top 3 platforms.
They have unfortunately truly lost their way.

    Eric says

@All: I don’t know if that’s a working solution for the login problem, but could you please check the following settings:

    - Settings / Apps / Wunderlist / Edit permissions:
(Connections, Interactions & Userdata) -> ALLOW

    - Einstellungen / Anwendungen / Wunderlist / Berechtigungen bearbeiten:
(Verbindungen, Interaktionen & Benutzerdaten) auf ZULASSEN einstellen

Please let me know if that solves the problem.

Was happy to see that it became available on BB. Found it in BB World, downloaded it and then something terribly wrong happened. Not sure what but i had to restart my BB8900 like 20 times; now I got it up and running again. I cannot find the application however and when i search again in BB World i cannot find it anymore. Did you guys remove it? Via the BB App World website i found it again but it gives an error when i want to download it. I can’t find much info about similar probs; only here in your blog, would appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

Speed improved after restarting device, but still a little slow overall. Either way thanks for releasing a bb app, I can enter items a lot faster here than on my ipad. The “sync” notification pop up window is quite annoying, please fix this. I like the idea of keyboard shortcuts. Sliding up and down let’s you scroll through lists. What about left and right so u can mark tasks done, star items, asign due dates?

    Eric says

We haven’t found a solution yet, but we’re investigating it.

@Kevin: Yeah the sync pop-over will be changed with the next version!
