The Wunderkit show is about to start.
Grab a front row seat!

Posted on October 20th 2011 by Matthew Bostock - 520 Comments

This past year has been an amazing time for us at 6Wunderkinder HQ. Wunderlist has continued to outshine every productivity tool out there, and everyone from The New York Times to the BBC has been interested in what we, as a company, have to say. We also came third at the Vodafone Mobile Click Awards 2011, bringing home a fantastic €25,000 in prize money.

All of this stuff, put simply, is incredible. But things are about to get a whole lot more exciting, for all of us. Unless you’ve been living on the moon or have some irrational fear of gossip, you should know that Wunderkit is almost here. We’ve been working so hard to realize the dream we laid out at the very beginning, and keeping so quiet about Wunderkit has been hard for us all – despite the necessity.

Earlier this year we embarked on our very first Wundercamp. The purpose? To kickstart our Wunderkit dream. We all came away with a mind-blowing concept, and began working feverishly to make it a reality – picking up new team members and office space along the way. Last month we set off for Wundercamp 2.0. In a small, seaside town in Denmark we all slipped into top gear, and began inching closer to the finishing line we had already set out. It was the beginning of the end…

One small step for man. The Wunderkit beta.

So, how close is Wunderkit? Very. Today we’ve updated Wunderkit.com, and you can now register for a beta invite. This is how it works. Visit the page (be sure to admire its beauty), head down to the input field, enter your email address and hit ‘Notify Me’. You’re then placed on a waiting list. As soon as you reach the top of the waiting list, we’ll email you with a Wunderkit invite. We can’t tell you how long you’ll have to wait, it purely depends on how fast you register and how many people have registered before you!

I think we all agree that this waiting list will be pretty huge. A lot of people have been waiting patiently for Wunderkit, and it even became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter. So, we’ve devised a pretty neat way for you to get access a little earlier, and claim a front row seat to the show. As soon as you’ve entered your email address and hit ‘Notify Me’, you’ll be presented with a link. Share this link with anybody you’d like, through Facebook, Twitter or plain old email. With each friend that signs up for Wunderkit through this link, you’ll jump higher in the waiting list queue. It’s that simple. We strongly suggest you do this, we want everyone in on the Wunderkit fun as soon as possible! Think of it as your VIP pass :) For all of you who Tweeted about Wunderkit last month (and made us a worldwide Twitter trending topic), we’ll notify you soon!

So that’s the process. Simple and rewarding. Now, let’s talk design. In true 6Wunderkinder fashion, Wunderkit.com is drop-dead gorgeous. We wanted to make something a little special. We’ve all been admiring the handy work of Marvin and his wonderful couch animation. See the glittering stars? That’s him too. As always, our secret weapon Jan made the whole thing beautiful. He meticulously crafted the couch by hand in Photoshop, and it was so awesome to watch that we’d like to share it with you. Here’s a video time-lapse of the whole process, with music provided by myself!

One giant leap for mankind. The Wunderkit concept.

You’ve all heard the rumours, now hear the official lowdown. This is the first time you’ll get a glimpse inside of Wunderkit. You already have an incredible task management tool with Wunderlist, and we’re proud of our 1.3 million users. We know we’re doing something right. Wunderlist meets a lot of requirements so lacking in the productivity market, such as being a completely free solution, including cloud synchronization and having an insane multi platform emphasis. At the same time we knew what Wunderlist had to be – a simple, minimalist product. We get so many feature requests every day, some of which are just not right for Wunderlist. What does this tell us? As much as we’re making task management better, there’s still a lot of necessities that haven’t been met… yet.

You all need more power behind your task management, more options, more flexibility. Things like recurring tasks and subtasks, but done the 6Wunderkinder way. We’re pleased to announce that all the things you’ve wished for are coming – and much, much more.

However, these things are not the focal point. Task management is only one part of Wunderkit. Wunderkit will actually help you with the grander scheme of creating, organizing and accomplishing things… from one central place. I’d like to introduce workspaces. Workspaces act as projects. Inside a workspace you’ll find everything you need to help you towards your goals.

How about making notes? Absolutely. Notes have their own dedicated section in Wunderkit. The best part? Other people can like and comment them. Note taking is now a social thing, so you can watch your ideas grow with the help of your friends, family and colleagues.

That brings us neatly on to collaboration. Wunderkit puts a huge emphasis on working together with other people. Wunderlist is an incredible solution for collaboration, but we’re going one step further. Wunderkit was built with mass collaboration in mind, and working with others has never been so seamless. You can ‘follow’ other workspaces to see what they’re working on, or let other people follow you. Every workspace comes with its very own profile page. Your mother will find this easy to use, so will your best friend, so will your boss. The entry bar for productivity and collaboration has truly been lowered, and we’re finally making project management simple and fun.

It’s beautiful. Seriously, you won’t believe it. It’s almost like every pixel fell as a tear from an angel. In the words of the late, great Steve Jobs… one more thing. Wunderkit also has something called the Dashboard. It gives you a birds-eye view on all of your workspace’s recent activity. People can post status updates here, which means you can keep up to date with your whole team. With so much going on, you need a condensed way to view it all. We’ve got the goods.

I know we’ve been saying ‘stay tuned’ for so long, and we’re sorry it’s taken this amount of time to let you guys in on the Wunderkit secret. We re-thought a lot of things along the way, and we’re glad we did. We strive for perfection, and perfection can take some time to achieve. We’re incredibly proud of Wunderkit, and we hope you will be too.

So there you have it. With Wunderlist, we defined the concept of productivity. With Wunderkit, we’re redefining it. The real count down starts now. I’ve only showcased the tip of the iceberg here, there’s a lot more waiting for you inside. If you haven’t already, sign up on Wunderkit.com. Hurry, hurry! The longer you wait, the longer the waiting list will be! Wunderkit’s out of the oven, you can grab your slice soon.

This looks wonderful! I just am really really hoping that it might have some way of integrating it with iCloud and iOS5!

For iCloud: Perhaps even just for notes, to “Sync with Notepad” so that it could upload, or for the reminders to “Syn With iCal” so that they show up that way as well.

For iOS5: Clearly, I am looking for notifications, and perhaps also some way of really working better then the reminders app that comes with iOS…

All in all, looks good, but really looking forward to its integration with iOS5 and iCloud!

    Thanks guys!

The second is because I can share lists with my husband and my students about upcoming performances and what needs to get done, etc.
The third reason (and this is a deal breaker) because the app is so nice to look at…I want to see what I have to do next just to look at my beautiful app…

    Hi Wunderkinder,

    ANSONSTEN:
Weiter so und Glückwunsch zum neune Baby
    Gruß vom Bodensee

Even though I am quite excited to find out more about Wunderkit, it’s getting difficult to not choose another Task Manager without much communication from the team…

It’s been 9 days and seemingly, only one person in the comments has actually gotten an invite to the beta… Has it already started or is it still in development?

Even though I think that Wunderlist looks really nice, some of the features that “seem to be” in Wunderkit are necessary for me to decide on this app… Otherwise, I will just end up moving to Remember the Milk and paying the Pro subscription… Pretty much wouldn’t come back here till that runs out…

So some more communication or even vague dates or more feature details would be great, otherwise, honestly, my life will start getting a bit more messed up without any task management app that I fully commit to…

    Cheers.

Everyone is excited about Wunderkit – but if you temporarily need something with ‘social’ collaboration and multiple task posting options like voice and email and free (iOS only) – take a look at Beta app http://www.Orchestra.com. Not as pretty as Wunderlist, but has simple prioritization that Wunderkit will probably have. A possible temp solution until we finally see/get Wunderkit (can’t wait!).

    MathiasB says

Uh Oh…. It looks like Asana might acquire some of the possible w users for this app. I have just tried it out and while it is certainly not as pretty as Wunderkit looks, it certainly works very very well.

    Hey,

I’m the Brand Evangelist here at 6Wk. We’re sorry about the lack of communication over the last few days, but the whole team have been focused on bringing you the best product possible. And it is awesome :)

@jomurgel – thanks for your loyalty. We truly appreciate that and hope Wunderkit can fit your every productivity need.

@Zev – thanks for the input and suggestions. We’re taking notes.

@Scott – you’ll also get access. It will just take a bit more time.

@Richard – That will definitely be available somewhere on the future. Its on our roadmap :)

@George – wer’re still working on pricing for the app. Thanks for understanding.

@James – Wow. Thank you so much for your words. We’re proud.

    @Tyler – Thanks!!

@Tomo – this post has already some nifty informations regarding the product, but the launch is set to happen very soon, so you will be able to check everything by yourself.

@Ten – Thanks so much for the heads up. We’re on it.

@João Thanks for your comment. Yes. Definitely. At least for the time being there will be both Wunderlist and Wunderkit available.

@Paul – yes, in the future Paul :)

@Melwan – our apps for Wunderkit will be 100% native

@Oliver – As we had the opportunity to explain in other communication channels if you tweeted our message a while back during Vodafone competition you’ll get the earliest access possible. Thanks!

@Frederique – Thanks for using Wunderlist. I’m actually interested in learning more about how you’re using it in school. Can you please email me so we can discuss this? ricardo{at}6wunderkinder.com

@Remi it is coming. Trust us. We just need to be careful on the release to assure we deliver the best there is.

@Lemmy @Finn – yes that is planned. However that will take a while. Hoping to release for iOS and web now and the rest later. Thanks for bearing with us.

    Ricardo Sousa says

    Hey everyone,

    (to: @Kurt @Nebeel @Josh @bob @Meher )

We opened this webpage to receive applications for beta invites for Wunderkit. After processing those, we’re now carefully releasing access to the product to small sets of users, so we can test, improve and scale along. You’ll get your beta invite over the coming weeks, thats for sure.
We would like to apologize for the delay, and although we understand your frustration and appreciate you wanting to try the product, we’re sure you will understand that we’re all aiming to release the best product out there and that in most cases that mean it will take a bit longer. But its getting out, so hold tight and in no time you’ll be in. If you have any questions feel free to reach me directly (ricardo{at}6wunderkinder{dot}com).

    Thanks for bearing with us.

Hmm also had a look at Asana while waiting for Wunderkit.. Unlimited workspaces, and up to 30 collaborators in each space for free. Pretty damn good. Looks decent too, simple and neat. And it’s fast!

    Chris says

Weeks (at least) before most of us get an invite?

Sorry, this was really bad timing and helped your competitors more than you planned.

Good bye Wunderkit … hello Asana :-)

    Blair Rasmussen says

yes, this is getting a little absurd. Feel like I/m in a movie theater and have sat through 500 trailers already. I know some have left for other apps that this point. how about some beta invites for those active on your blog or twitter?

    Ricardo Sousa says

Hey Techie, we appreciate the enthusiasm. It should be really soon that you, and other users, get access. Again, its all about assuring we get a quality product out there.

Blair, our most active users are getting pulled to the top of the list. Hold tight. No more trailers, just awesomeness comign :)

Chris, Robert, we appreciate that others are joining the productivity workspace. It just shows how exciting that is. As you can read on my comment above we still think it is best to wait a bit more and assure that when we give you all access to the platform it is awesome, stable and ready to grow and be improved as we go along. A good start is everything.

Again, you all know what you can expect from 6Wk given our previous product, Wunderlist. As for Wunderkit, I believe that if we do it right it can be an awesome new tool in the productivity workspace. And we’re aiming on doing it right. You guys can expect a product that instead of a trillion features from start has the workflow thought to detail and all the platform ready to have all your needs covered as we go along.

Hope you all can enjoy Wunderkit. :)

    Frank says

Actually I start thinking that you are just not able to deliver … at least not for the time beeing. Maybe it would be a good idea to tell us now rather than loose all of your remaining fans forever. It seems as if some have already switched to some other solution and are not waiting for Wunderkit anymore … and sure each day more follow them …

    Alejandro says

…never mind if a couple of your fans will be lost on the way. A good product needs time, and will eventually find new fans….

    Ricardo Sousa says

Johan, thanks for the support. We’re sure it will be worth the wait.

Frank, thanks for your comment. As we can read above we’re launching the beta version of Wunderkit. We’re sorry to see some of our fans go away, and we’ll truly doing out best to get the product out but, once again, we won’t do it faster for the sake of doing it faster. Quality is everything. But one thing is for sure, we’ll deliver… and sooner than you might think. Thanks for your feedback.

Alejandro, we love all our fans and feel sorry if some stop using (or waiting for) our products, but we most definitely won’t sacrifice quality and future improvements preparations just to get the product out faster. Our compromise is to create high quality apps for the productivity workspace. And that’s what we intend to do. We want to be the app you’ll be using in 2,3,5 years – not just now :)

I’d agree that the waiting and constant ‘it’s coming’ bs is getting old and tired. Perhaps reading Getting Real should be on the 6Wunderkinder reading list.

As for Asana, they’re skimming insane amounts of info from user accounts which they then sell…..all in the privacy policy. Anyone using Asana for business is nuts.

I can’t help but agree with Blair “500 trailers in the cinema” Rasmussen.
Having worked in both marketing and software development, I can’t help but think that those two teams in your organisation aren’t being honest or realistic with each other or themselves. It’s one thing to “build the anticipation” but you’re now into the territory of “mis-managing your supporters’ expectations” to the point of having them feel you’ve let them down.
It sounds like Wunderkit could make a huge positive difference to the lives of many people who are under increasing pressure in the workplace with ever-more things being demanded and expected of them etc., but for me, I’d rather you’d not told me about it until you were in a position to deliver and make that difference to me.
*looks for the asana roadmap to see if ‘estimated time’ is in their upcoming feature list*

I think the folks at 6Wunderkinder are doing a fine presentation – the wait isn’t that long. I do believe it’s better to deliver quality than offer premature releases to the general public. Any company that focuses on quality is bowling in the right alley as far as I’m concerned. That’s exactly what should be done.

As for whiners and complainers, well, if they released it too fast, criticisms would be flooding in saying: “you should have worked on it more before releasing it prematurely, we could have waited.” – and then you would lose lots of customers. That’s the kind of stuff you see everywhere today.

I’m glad to see this team armed with the right focus. They have the right attitude. The fact is, with some people, no matter what you do, they will always complain. I appreciate 6Wunderkinder’s developement status and I’m looking forward to see the new release.

    Keep up the good work…!

Really looking forward to trying this out next semester for school related organization. I currently use Wunderlist and it’s great to have on both my iPhone and my MacbookPro, but I sometimes feel like there could be more to wunderlist to make me even more organized and productive; I say this because I am not only working hard in school, but I am also trying to use my spare time to do various personal programming projects, learn instruments, and learn various other things related and unrelated to my Computer Engineering major. I feel this tool, after a hopefully easy transition and learning curve, could really be a great tool for professionals and students alike, especially those juggling both of those areas of their life like myself as I wrap up my senior year of college and look to join the “real world” here in the near future. I would certainly hope that I could get over the learning curve (if any) of the tool over my school’s Winter break so that when the Spring academic session begins, I could start with an even stronger bang and finish my academic “career” strong, especially since these higher level engineering courses are not the kind of courses to cut you a break if you fall behind. Thank you Wunderkinder and I look forward to your response Ricardo!

    Hi there,

I have a couple of questions for you guys. Would be great if you could answer them.

    1) If and when I get an invite, will that be just for me or will I be able to use Wunderkit with my team?

    2) Pricing. Any thoughts on your pricing policy? I’d like to know what we can expect because if the pricing is off the charts, I’d like to know right now so I don’t have to wait around anymore.

    3) What will make Wunderkit better than its competitors and why should we wait for you to finish? Please compare the ‘promised’ features of Wunderkit to the features of Omnifocus, GetFlow, Asana, Producteev as those are some of the readily available alternatives.

    4) When do you think you will be sending the invites? Christmas is almost here…;-)

Please tell us when we will have this app. I gave up for waiting !!!

    Matthew Ibarra says

Hey Ricardo, I feel the learning curve may only be related to getting used to integrating the tool into one’s work routine as they transition from another tool or means of staying organized. Nothing to do with your tool per say.
As for things missing from Wunderlist, I believe you will be handling any of that with this tool. But as a list organization tool and for the basic usage of Wunderlist, it is missing nothing. As an academic organizational tool and time management tool, it doesn’t have the calendar features or time distribution aspects, but that was never the goal of Wunderlist so I didn’t mean to come across as faulting Wunderlist for these things.
I’m just excited for using Wunderkit as an academic organizational tool. Do you all feel it will be able to be used this way easily?
I really do love how I can use this app on my iPhone, iPad, and MBP. It really helps me stay organized at school. I have ADD and this means that I need to be able to write down something somewhere right away before any more ideas or thoughts get introduced to me otherwise, I will 95% of the time, forget that thought. Wunderlist is great for this because I have access to it on any device I use for academic purposes. And of course, the aesthetically pleasing aspect of the app makes it a winner hands down. I really would like to say that that isn’t a big factor, but I would just be lying to myself; having an app that is amazing to look at while staying organized is exactly what I want and crave! You all are going to deliver this to me with flying colors and I am just really looking forward to it. I hope to be able to have this app before Christmas! That would make me one happy and very organized student! ^___^

Hey Techie123. Pleasee allow us with some time to get back to you. We all understand your frustation regarding Wunderkit not being out there yet… but we really need to focus on some other stuff. Just rest assured the blog post is being monitored and we’ll answer in reasonable timing.
    1) You get an invite for yourself. You can then invite a limited amount of users. However, as soon as they are in you can share stuff with them.
    2) Although I cant reveal figures just yet it will be very very fair specially if compared to our competition. And the model is also very easy to understand from the user’ perspective.
    3) Although you really want, I’m not commenting on the features. Just expect the same level of commitment to a great user experience and the same level of attention to detail that you can find on Wunderlist, plus some bonus features that were mentioned or hinted at in this post. Also understand this is a beta release and, therefore, most of the features will be added as we go along – thats our goal with Wunderkit. A good base that we can then build on top of.
    4) Before Christmas we hope, but again, quite honestly, when we think it is right for you guys to fully use it.
    Thanks for understanding.

Matthew, I’m actually focusing on the education field. :)

Evan, no one except for a list of investors, partners and friends is getting this build we have right now. This is meant for internal testing only. As soon as you guys start receiving that you’ll notice. We’ll respect seniority but the main list we’re looking at are the users who signup at http://www.wunderkit.com and then shared.

Uh-oh! The timeline in Ricardo’s latest post is much less optimistic than previous posts! We’ve gone from “@Techie123 – Santa is hearing you. I bet you’re getting it way before Xmas. :)” to “Before Christmas we hope, but again, quite honestly, when we think it is right for you guys to fully use it.”

I appreciate the care that is going in to the app, but good god the timing for the announcement seems terrible! We’ve been waiting for 42 days!!

    no News yet hmm?!?

You don´t have to deliver the whole Software today; bot not even telling all the thousands of People about the Features leaves only one question to me: Are there any working features yet??

Sorry guys, we as a German company wanted to go with it, but ignorance is not the way we like to be treated.

As there are no news about the features, we are gonna stick to Asana…

Just saying “be patient” is not an Argument towards you…

Hmm…. Sorry 6wunderkinder, I’ll be using Asana too since this wait is way longer than I’ve anticipated. Asana got the subtask hierarchy that wunderlist lacks. I’m not blaming anyone, I’m sure you guys feel the pressure from your investors too, and quality codes take times. I’ll check back when it’s done, but I might not be back if I’m feeling comfy with Asana while waiting =/

    A Different Josh says

Shall we begin to take bets on an over/under for how many days from the first post by Tyler Garland on this site until the actual day of release for Wunderkit? As I type (12/13/11; sorry to be so American with the date style), the post by Tyler Garland was 55 days ago. With Christmas and New Year’s approaching I highly doubt it will be under 75. I’m willing to set the official “house” number at 85, hoping for an early New Year’s release. What do you say? Let’s have some fun with this and place a $10 bet, pretend money, of course, on the day you think the Wunderkit beta will actually be released to us. So, for example, if you think Wunderkit will be released tomorrow (12/14), choose day 56. If you pick the correct day you win the pot of pretend money. Maybe we can bet in a pretend, stable, worldwide currency called Wunderbucks. So, “house” wins if the beta is released to the masses on day 85 from Tyler Garland’s first post. Pick days while their left!

After skimming through some of the comments, I noticed a trend of folks who are impatient with the lack of a release date for Wunderkit. Seems to me 6Wunderkinder have been pretty clear from the beginning on their intentions with Wunderkit. They told us what they were working on, gave us a sneak preview of what it is, and told us that it’ll be done when it’s done. To make any further assumptions is pure speculation and a waste of time. I personally would rather they spent as much time as needed to get their product right rather than release something that might not be ready. If you don’t like the wait then go use something else in the meantime. There are plenty of other great tools out there that can tide you over.

    Hello everyone,

Apologies for taking some time to get back to you. As some of you have identified, we’re still working very hard on Wunderkit. We’re currently running a small closed beta, and making improvements along the way. When we know we have something that really kicks ass, we’ll make it live for the public.

We’re constantly finding areas to improve on every day, and it takes some time to get all the improvements in there. But all in all we want the best experience for you. As always, we appreciate your continued patience. Thank you for caring.

    @A Different Josh, @Techie123, @Bob, @Aidan, @TK, @David
About the time frame: As the product is constantly evolving, it’s really difficult to predict how close it is to being ready. At the time of the comments regarding release times, this was the current status, but like a lot of things, it was subject to change. The current status is that it’s currently in closed beta, and will go public when we feel that it’s good enough for the users.

    @Alexander Lehnes, @Lance Laytner
Sorry for the lack of news. Right now we are in the closed beta. There are working features that are being tested, and we’re constantly improving on them every day. We’ll go public when we feel that it’s a seriously kick ass product.

Seems like you’ve lost a lot of momentum with your beta delays. I understand the need for closed beta testing – we do it all the time. however, a more successful strategy seems to be google’s – more smaller releases more frequently. constantly iterate. we lost serious market share with a former product by waiting for the product to be “good enough” for public consumption. by the time the product was “good enough”, our product was no longer relevant – consumers found replacements elsewhere.

@Kirsty: ‘after christmas’ is a rather unspecific timeframe and is in no way helpfull in rebuilding the confidence that you already lost out there. And as someone said before: having a great product out too late can become a very frustrating experience as most people are not really patient once you made huge promises.

I think it is disrespectful to your faithful users to not provide regular updates on the progress of Wunderkit. We have to dig through the large amount of comments to find little gems. Furthermore there hasn’t been anything more then vague timeframes presented that come and pass. After Christmas could be all the way up to next Christmas. I think we are at least owed a firm date. Or at the very least add sub tasks to wunderlist to hold us over.

Your inability to manage customer expectations is shockingly bad and thoroughly disappointing for those who want to support you. In light of the many new products coming online each day, It surprises me that you seem incapable or unwilling to communicate in an open and honest manner with prospective paying customers.

    @Christian
I completely understand your frustration in the lack of a specific timeframe. As I am sure you can understand, testing, making changes and improvements does take time, and it’s really difficult to know when the product will be right. Of course we hoped we could have gotten it out to more people earlier, but in the end, we’d prefer to deliver a quality product. :)

    Kirsty Lee answers

    @A
Sorry to hear that it has been difficult to locate the right information. As I mentioned to Christian, I am sure you can understand that it’s almost impossible to estimate exactly how long testing, making changes and improvements will take. When we estimated a late 2011 release, we really thought we could make it. It turns out that we are going to be later than that, and for that delay we can only apologize.
Because we’ve been pouring all our energy into Wunderkit over recent months, there has not been a Wunderlist update for a while. We’re hoping that sub-tasks are one of the things that’ll be included in the next updates over the coming months.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me a kirsty at 6wunderkinder dot com if you have trouble sifting through the comments :)

Sorry for not communicating this more clearly, we will strive do much better in the future. To clarify for you now, we are in the closed beta. We’re making the final tweaks, bug squishing and optimizing performance before we progress to the next stages. When it’s awesome and we’re totally happy with it, we’ll roll out to the waiting list. Thanks for letting us know your concerns, we’re listening :)

    Michael says

    @Kirsty:
“At the time of these comments we genuinely thought we were super close to releasing. Then a lot of stuff got changed in the product and the release was delayed.”

This only supports the opinion voiced by some of your prospective clients, i.e. the opinion that 6w has no coherent quality and product management at all. In other words – in a professional lead company being very close to a public beta and announcing this means that the feature set is fixed as well as the major components are developed such that a finished product can be reached in a known time frame.

As you are incapable of stating any time frame for your development whatsoever but always stress the “when it is done” mantra, for the interested prospective customer there are only two possible conclusions, namely:
    a) you have series (architectural) development issues which are not solved and which you do not know how to solve
    b) your internal management is at best unprofessional
    c) you do not know your objectives

For me, none of these explanations gives me the urge to consider wunderkit as prospective solution but rather pushs me into the arms of your competitors. And rereading your comments, there is no statement which would make me think otherwise.

As someone who works in web design and computer development – that’s bull.

“Sorry for not communicating this more clearly, we will strive do much better in the future.”

Sorry for not communicating? You think you can just say sorry and everything be okay? Yes, there is forgiveness, but there are also consequences. If I punch you in the eye, and later say that I’m sorry, then you can forgive me all you want, but you still got a black eye. There might not be any bad feelings are anything like that, but you still got a black eye. IF wunderkit ever launches (and I doubt that it will) then you will have a lot of people that are going to have black eyes, and will NOT use your product.

“we will strive do much better in the future.” Why not start right now by sending an apology letter to everyone that signed up for notifications?

    A says

    @Kirsty Lee
I don’t “understand that it’s almost impossible to estimate exactly how long testing, making changes and improvements will take” because every company I have worked for understands when you set a deadline(especially a public one), you stick to it end of story. I absolutely echo Michael that “when it’s done” is NOT a mantra to base a business off of. Also with regards to finding information what I was trying to express is a comment board is not a way to disseminate information to you customers, give us a blog update, a newsletter, something to know you actually care. I really hope this blows us away because so far you are showing you are a company that cares more about every fine detail of your product then your user base. Beta is named that for a reason you don’t have to have every little kink worked out, that’s the whole point of BETA.

I hope I didn’t jump from one waiting game to another.

This is a company that should have waited and not put an App out into the market at all. This is a smart looking App but if “Fails” to work – ALL the time. Patience is a virtue… At least 6Wunderkinder is not sending update after update to fix crashes or bugs. They are working on getting a product out that will function without bug fixes or unnecessary updates. They have promised a quality product. I too have come back to the blog day after day. All I can do is wait until it is rolled out. Patience is a virtue.

I am really excited about this product. I check this page several times a week for updates.

I have tried several other project management tools and for me they all have weaknesses:

    Asana:
    - No sub tasks (although I believe they have plans to implement this in the future)
    - No message board, it’s purely task related
    - No permissions levels. Anyone in your team can delete tasks.

    Workflowy:
I love the sub tasks and breadcrumb navigation in workflowy. It’s a wonderful task list, but nothing more than that. (I realize this is all it was intended to be.)
    - No file sharing
    - No messaging
    - No due dates or calendar (this is a biggy for me)

Right now I am trying a combination of asana and workflowy. I use asana as my main task list, then if I need to go deeper into sub tasks I simply link to a workflowy sheet in the comments. It works but it’s far from perfect.

    Bascamp:
I really like basecamp, it is probably the most complete solution so far for me. I especially love the way it integrates with freshbooks which is my invoicing program, however basecamp lacks:
    - Sub Tasks
    - The Wunderlist beautiful design
    and
    - It starts at Basic $24/month, if you want time tracking $49/month.

I am really hoping Wunderkit will be an excellent balance between a task list and a project management tool. Wunderlist is awesome, but with no sub tasks I can only use it for personal tasks and nothing complex.

Can you give us an update on features?

Side note: Why do you have the latest comments at the bottom of the page? We have to scroll all the way down every time. It’s so annoying especially on a mobile device.

what i found fatal in the Windows application of Wunderlist was the failure to implement standard keyboard navigation….
can’t cycle down down a list of tasks with arrorw key, can’t ‘enter’ the task to edit and set times etc
the Android app explodes the task to edit with a single touch, but the Windows app requires multiple clicks on small icons to access the same settings…
for users with high keyboard literacy and small mobile keyboards, the mouse is a huge productivity suck
please don’t forget fast intuitive keyboard navigation

Hey Bryon, we’ll definitely discuss this in the team and work out the best way to make the app as navigable as possible using the keyboard. A lot of hype but not even an arrival date for the product. Very little information on the actual app is here; what is here is “look at us, we’re so great” horn-blowing and a few static pics that reveal little. The only video shows the logo being built – no tour of the app and it’s actual functioning. In fact so very little is said of the app’s actual functioning. So why all the gushes from people who have never used the product at all? This is a pre-launch website, to build a list of people to send the app to – if they ever get it made and functioning well enough to put out. And apparently what we are waiting on is the Beta application, an initial or trial version that needs to have the bugs ironed out of it. SOUNDS INTERESTING and an app I would like to try but I am not impressed by this look-at-me-aren’t-I-a-great-computer-programmer pre-launch hype for list-building business. Less hype and more app, please.

Wunderkit will actually help you with the grander scheme of creating, organizing and accomplishing things… from one central place. You could take a look at this article written by The Next Web if you’d like to read a detailed, third-party review: http://www.thenextweb.com/apps/2012/01/17/an-early-look-at-wunderkit-shows-that-productivity-can-be-social/. I checked out the video, I love the simplicity of Wunderlist/Wunderkit, but I really was expecting a more complete set of functions for taking notes… Currently I have to use another product for taking notes for projects and I was hoping Wunderkit was going to cover this aspect.

Wahnsinn!

Also wenn Engländer keine deutsche Übersetzung liefern – nachvollziehbar!

I’m disappointed with the social aspects of Wunderkit.

I need a great collaborative project/task management system, not another Twitter/Facebook.

I work for a big organization and tried pushing this system to my bosses, but they refused because they got the impression that – while it was a good system – it was too focused around social interaction with strangers. And they are right.

Can you at least give people who want to keep their project management behind closed doors the option to completely shut off the dashboard and any interaction with outsiders, so as to make it more like Wunderlist?

    Thanks.

    Blair says

For all the lead up hype, even in the beta stage this is sorely lacking features. E-mail attachments only on the horizon, far as I can tell, no method to e-mail tasks to your account, a nice design. I’ll give it, but not much else. But what is most annoying, especially given that the product is days/weeks from public launch, there still is no answer on how much it will ultimately cost us. Only a vague promise that we will find out “well before 90 days is done.”. it seems odd that this close to your public launch, you are still not clear on your business model. Back to Asana – which is looking better and better in the grander
    scheme of things…

    Kirsty Lee answers

    @Blair
We will implement more features when the product is out of beta :) pricing information and more details about free vs pro accounts will come pretty soon.
The public beta launch will be in early February, but the full product launch will be later. Maybe you could check back later in the year when Wunderkit will have a richer feature-set :)

    Kirsty Lee answers

    @Ara
Are you talking about Wunderlist or Wunderkit? Unfortunately Wunderlist for Desktop does not support proxy servers. The problem is related to the use of the Titanium Framework – a third-party issue that requires an update. You can still use the web app though! :)

    Ara says

    Hey Kristy,
thanks! I didn’t know there’s a web version of wunderlist (new fan talking!)
It would’ve been great to have a proxy option in the desktop version though. And what about wunderkit? Does it also have no proxy option? (the desktop version..since, I guess, it’s also based on Titanium Framework)….
    Thanks again :o)

I am using Wunderkit currently and love it overall. One suggestion is I’d love to have the ability to make Sub Tasks within tasks that also have checkboxes.

Currently I’m using a workaround by adding Sub Tasks as “Comments” and clicking on the Heart when it’s done, it works but is not optimal.

    Sub Tasks would be great.

    Thanks
    Malan

@M You are right, that’s not the optimum – and that’s why we’ll definitely implement subtasks in the near future.
